Born 1765 or 1768 in Ireland. The cemetery history gives 1765, while Buncombe County Special Collections gives 1768.
(https://specialcollections.buncombenc.gov/2017/08/30/some-notes-on-slavery-in-asheville-and-buncombe-county/)December 1800 Robert and Jennie settled on the North Fork of the Swannanoa, at what is now the Lake Eden/Camp Rockmont property.
1803 A 50 acre grant is recorded on both sides of Cove Branch, flowing into Flat Creek of the Swannanoa.
1816 Robert received another 100 acres, at the head of Jumping Branch toward the waters of the Swannanoa.
ca. 1820 Robert and Jennie set aside what became the Ingram family cemetery. Both were eventually buried there.
The homesite was about 200 yards inside the present Camp Rockmont gate. The Goodsons say Robert's grants and purchases eventually totaled 1,122 acres.
